Possibility of using the Tomcat deploy facility to make this operation safer. First create a Tomcat user for the manager role ( see Tomcat doc) and then :

cd $SAADA_DB_HOME/bin
./sant tomcat.[un]deploy.safe -Durl=http://localhost:8080/manager -Dusername=name -Dpassword=passwd
```
This command only works when Tomcat is running.

Most of the external librarieshave been packed in BigSaadaJar.jar, making the classpath quite more simple an the application starter faster

Data node content can be displayed by double clicking on a node .
A dialog box prevent you to close the Web application by error.

Spooler for the database connection makes the Ajax Web pages more responsive.
Healpix indexation to be compliant with VO standards such as MOC or HIPS. This evolution targets the search by region available on the next release.
WEb deployment tasks safer by using the Tomcat build-in functions.
External libraries merged within one unique jar. That dramatically simplifies the classpath and that makes applications starting faster.

10. Install Tomcat

Saada works with Tomcat 6 and higher.

Download the archive and expend it in myFirstStepWithSaada/apache

>> Start it and test it

Start the server

% cd myFirstStepWithSaada/apache/apache-tomcat-6.0/bin

% ./startup.sh

Test the server : By default, Tomcat uses the port 8080. In some cases, this port can be busy (if there is a running phpadmin e.g.). In this case, you can configure tomcat to use another port (8888 e.g.). Think to use the correct port in all URLs given in this tutorial. Let's suppose here we are using the port 8080.
- Start a browser and connect the URL http://localhost:8080. You should have the admin page of Tomcat.
- If it does not work, try the port 8888 with the URL http://localhost:8888.

07. Running the Admin Tool

>> Start the Admin Tool

Go in SAADA_DB_HOME/bin and run admintool

cd SAADA_DB_HOME/bin
 ./admintool

The admin tools ask first for the database admin password if there is one. The main window is splitted in 2 parts. The left one is a data tree showing the database content and the right one contain the current command panel.
The title banner shows the current data tree path which is set by clicking on a data tree node.
By default, any command issued from a command panel is applied to the current data node.
The back (left arrow) button do not re-open, the previous panel but a programmatically fixed panel.

All messages printed out can be retrieved from the Database Installation panel, button Open Applicaton Logs (see article).

Each command panel has 3 buttons on the bottom. from left to right :
- Run the command
- Switch on/off the debug mode
- Download an Ant task file doing the same command

Below the data tree are 2 buttons
- Reload Cache reload the meta data. That can be used for instance to monitor external scripts modifying the database content.
- Deploy Web Application on the Tomcat server. This must be done each time the datat ree has been modified. There is however a smoother way to do this, see this article.

08. Create a Collection

>> Create a Collection. Right click on the root node of the data tree and select the Create Collection item.

Click on the Create Collection of the main panel
- Give a name to the collection
- Give an optional description. The description will be reported on the Web page. It is no searchable however.
- Click the run button.
The collection description can be changed at any time
Collections cannot be renamed.

15. Testing TAP

TopCAT is enable to connect a Saada TAP service even if it is not published in the Internet
- Run Topcat

- Select Table Access Protocol in the VO menu
- Type the service URL

Ex : http://localhost:8080/SaadaDBName/tap

- Click on Use Service and go ahead

Once the TAP service is operated by a public server, it can be accessed through Taphandle
- Connect

```
  You will be automatically redirected to the TapHandle page.
- You can also paste your TAP URL (http://localhost:8080/SaadaDBName/tap) in the TAPHandle search bar. Note the degree of similarity between TAPHandle and the Saada Web interface, they are using the same toolkit.

>> The registry resource. All data collections of the SaadaDB are meant to be attached to one unique curation registry ressource. Saada provides some default values, but it is recommended to carefully edit this resource before to publish the database in a public registry. Help can be found at [1]

>> Publishing simple services. The 3 simple services supported by Saada are SSA (spectra), SIA (images) and SCS (table entries). All have the same editor.

>> The registry record of each data collection can be edited with the Saada XML editor and saved on your file system. Most of the publishing registries support the resource upload.

>> Publishing a TAP service works the same way as for the simple services, except that any data collection can be published. When both collection and class data are published in TAP, Saada automatically declares a join in the TAP_SCHEMA

>> The VO Published Resources presents a read only summary of everything published.

>> The VO protocol Fields allows to check the metadata of all VO data models supported by Saada (cannot be edited).
